Last year our town got a Costco - this was (and continues to be!) a really big deal. As a macro tracker, macro coach, nutritionist, and believer in bulk buying, I was beyond thrilled to have a Costco right down the street.

Costco has some of the best options for macro-friendly foods around, and the best part is that they are constantly adding new products to their options and the pricing is on point when it comes to feeding a family.

But navigating Costco as a newbie to the store or to tracking macros can feel overwhelming. What Costco foods are good for macros?

In this article, I’m going to show you! I’ll cover everything from high-protein Costco snacks to what proteins to buy at Costco to set yourself up for macro success.

Why Shop at Costco For Macro-Friendly Foods?

Before we dive in, I want to first address why Costco should be on your radar as someone who is interested in or passionate about eating a macro-balanced diet.

  1. Costco offers a huge selection of foods that are high in protein. From meats to snacks, Costco keeps its store shelves stocked with options that work really well for macro trackers.
  2. You’re getting your groceries in bulk. One of the cornerstones of success for all macro-trackers is that they tend to eat the same things consistently. When we find the foods that we love and that fit well with our macros, we eat them on repeat. Costco allows us to buy the foods we love in larger quantities, thereby saving us time and money.
  3. Costco is always adding new foods to its product offerings. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone into Costco and found a product that I was previously unaware of that is now a staple in my diet. They have a knack for knowing what we want and for getting it out in front of us.
  4. It’s ideal for families. Our household has four people who eat from home around 99% of the time - we go through a lot of food! Costco allows me to buy food in quantities that are conducive to feeding my family without needing to go to the grocery store several times per week.
  5. It’s such a fun experience. If you’ve ever shopped at warehouse stores like Costco then you know that there’s so much more than just food to be found. I get everything from kitchen gadgets and TVs to house plants and clothes at Costco. It’s a true gem of a store that has something for everyone.
