Healthier Cheeseburger Pie
This lightened up version of the family-favorite, Cheeseburger Pie, is high in protein, low in calories, and perfect for whipping up on busy weeknights!
Equipment
- 1 Pie dish
- 1 Cutting Board
- 1 Paring knife
- 1 Medium mixing bowl
- 1 Mixing spoon
Ingredients
- 1 Medium onion Chopped
- 1 lb lean ground beef (I used 96/4%)
- 1 tbsp Minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/3 cup ketchup I used sugar-free
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup 2% shredded colby jack cheese Divided
- 3/4 cup Bisquick baking mix
- 1 cup Fat-free milk
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray a pie dish or 8×8dish with cooking spray.
- Spray a large skillet with cooking spray and add the onionand garlic. Cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes, or untilonions are translucent. Drain any excess liquid and add toyour baking dish.
- Using the same skillet, add ground beef. Cook until nolonger pink. Stir in the salt, Worcestershire sauce, andketchup.
- Transfer the beef mixture to your baking dish and tossaround with the onions to evenly distribute. Sprinkle withhalf the cheese.
- In a medium mixing bowl, add the egg, milk and Bisquick.Whisk just until combined. There may still be some lumps,that’s ok! Do not over-mix or it can compromise thefluffiness of the biscuits.
- Pour the batter over beef mixture and top with remainingcheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in thecenter comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.Enjoy!
