Macro-Friendly Cheeseburger Pie

Dinner, Recipes

Cheeseburger Pie is a family dinner classic! We took this nostalgic dish and put a healthy, more macro-friendly spin on it so it not only feeds your family but also helps you hit your macros.

3 Reasons Why You Should Try This Recipe

  1. It's so easy to make. This is the type of recipe that you really can't mess up. It comes out perfect every time!
  2. High protein, Low calorie. I love a dish that's high in protein and lower in calories like our Healthier Cheeseburger Pie because it allows me to add on sides like a salad, some garlic bread, or even leave room for a large dessert!
  3. The whole family will love it. If your family is like mine, anything that's covered in ketchup is a big win. Let the kiddos add as much ketchup on top as they'd like and watch as they devour a hearty meal.

Equipment

  • 1 Pie dish
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Paring knife
  • 1 Medium mixing bowl
  • 1 Mixing spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 Medium onion Chopped
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (I used 96/4%)
  • 1 tbsp Minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 cup ketchup I used sugar-free
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup 2% shredded colby jack cheese Divided
  • 3/4 cup Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 cup Fat-free milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray a pie dish or 8×8
    dish with cooking spray.
  • Spray a large skillet with cooking spray and add the onion
and garlic. Cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes, or until
onions are translucent. Drain any excess liquid and add to
    your baking dish.
  • Using the same skillet, add ground beef. Cook until no
longer pink. Stir in the salt, Worcestershire sauce, and
    ketchup.
  • Transfer the beef mixture to your baking dish and toss
around with the onions to evenly distribute. Sprinkle with
    half the cheese.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, add the egg, milk and Bisquick.
Whisk just until combined. There may still be some lumps,
that’s ok! Do not over-mix or it can compromise the
    fluffiness of the biscuits.
  • Pour the batter over beef mixture and top with remaining
    cheese.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the
    center comes out clean.
  • Let cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
    Enjoy!
