Grilled Turkey Burger
Equipment
- 1 Mixing bowl
- 1 Grill
- 1 Spatula
- measuring spoons
- 1 Measuring cup
- 1 Cutting Board
- 1 Knife
- 1 Tongs
- 1 Plate or tray
Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean 93% ground turkey
- ¼ cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 large egg
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For Serving
- 4 whole wheat hamburger buns or buns of choice
- Cheese slices, optional
- Other toppings of choice: tomatoes, lettuce, pickles
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, panko bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, and the large egg. Add a pinch of salt and a dash of pepper to taste. Using clean hands, gently mix all the ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the burgers tough.
- Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions. With your hands, form each portion into a burger patty. Make sure the patties are evenly shaped and about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Press your thumb gently into the center of each patty to create a slight indentation – this helps the burgers cook evenly and maintain their shape as they grill.
- Place the turkey burger patties on the preheated grill. Cook the burgers for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F. If you're adding cheese, place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute or so of grilling to let it melt.
- While the burgers are cooking, cut the whole wheat hamburger buns in half and place them on the grill for about 1-2 minutes or until they are lightly toasted.
- Once the turkey burgers are cooked, remove them from the grill. Place each burger on a toasted bun. Top with your choice of additional toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles.
- Serve your delicious grilled turkey burgers with your preferred side dishes, and enjoy a flavorful and healthier burger option!
