Equipment

  • 1 8×8 baking dish
  • Aluminum foil
  • 1 Grater or zester
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh green beans
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1/8 cup Slivered almonds
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • Zest of half lemon

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  • Wash and trim the ends of the fresh green beans. Optionally, you can cut them into bite-sized pieces.
  • Place the green beans in a baking dish and drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over them. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of salt and toss to coat the beans evenly.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the green beans are tender but still slightly crisp.
  • Once the green beans are done, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a serving dish.
  • Sprinkle the slivered almonds over the baked green beans.
  • Drizzle the lemon juice over the dish. Grate the zest of half a lemon over the beans and almonds to add a zesty flavor.
  • Gently toss everything together to ensure the green beans and almonds are coated with the lemony olive oil.
  • Serve your Oven-Baked Green Beans Almondine as a yummy side dish. Enjoy!

Notes

The lemon zest adds a fresh and citrusy flavor to the dish. Use a fine grater to zest the lemon, but avoid the bitter white pith beneath the outer skin.
Feel free to adjust the amount of salt, lemon juice, or olive oil to suit your taste preferences.
Customization: You can add minced garlic or grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor if desired.
