  • 1 Waffle maker (I have this one and it works great!)
  • 1 Air fryer or oven

  • Prepare the frozen chicken strips in an air fryer or oven at 400ºF for about 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • While the chicken cooks, mix together the protein pancake mix and water.
  • Pour the pancake batter into a waffle maker. If using a large waffle iron, you can make one big waffle. If using a smaller one, you can make 2-3 waffles.
  • Top the waffles with the chicken, drizzle hot honey, and syrup, and enjoy!

If you don’t have a protein waffle mix like Clean Simple Eats or Kodiak Cakes on hand, you can make your own using a regular pancake mix and a scoop of protein powder.
For the hot honey, Mike’s is a popular option, but you can make your own using regular honey and some chili pepper flakes. If you don’t want your chicken and waffles to be spice, you can omit this ingredient.
We used zero-calorie maple syrup to save calories in this recipe since the hot honey is providing a good amount of sweetness already. However, you can feel free to use light maple syrup or even full-calorie maple syrup, especially if you choose to omit the honey.
