Who doesn’t love a refreshing lemonade when the warmer weather months roll around? And who doesn’t love Chick-fil-A?! With so many macro-friendly menu options, it’s one of my favorite fast-food restaurants.

However, their Frosted Lemonade, while delicious, is not necessarily what I would consider being macro-friendly. The traditional version of the drink packs in 330 calories, 65g of carbs, 6g of fat, and only 6g of protein. While this is perfectly fine to drink on occasion, if you’re trying to stick with your macros and get the most out of your daily intake, you’re probably not going to want to drink these too often.

But if you love a good Frosted Lemonade, we have a macro-friendly option for you! Our Strawberry Frosted Lemonade Protein Shake is going to blow your mind but not your macros. It’s full of flavor, uber refreshing, and packed with 20+ grams of protein!

3 Reasons Why You Will Love This Macro Friendly Strawberry Frosted Lemonade Protein Shake Recipe (Chick-Fil-A Copycat)

  1. It’s a lightened-up version of one of your favorite summertime drinks! I don’t know about you, but I much prefer to eat my calories than to drink them, so anytime I can enjoy a delicious, refreshing drink while still staying on track, I’m a happy camper.
  2. There are 20+ grams of protein! Hitting your daily protein target is easy when you can sip on a lemonade protein shake that’s full of flavor & protein.
  3. It’s so easy to make. With only a handful of ingredients, this shake comes together quickly and easily – perfect for summer days when you need refreshment quickly.

Ingredients

  • Vanilla protein powder: I used Clean Simple Eats Vanilla protein powder (code TAMI saves you 10%) as it’s one of my favorites, but you can use whatever vanilla protein powder you have on hand or prefer. I also recommend 1st Phorm Level-1, Legion, Just Ingredients, and KOS plant protein as a vegan option.
  • Zero Sugar Lemonade: I used Florida’s Natural Zero Sugar Lemonade in the Strawberry flavor as I prefer a flavored lemonade to a regular one, but you could choose either! Choosing a zero-sugar option allows you to save on calories.
  • Light vanilla ice cream: Chick-fil-A uses ice cream to craft their Frosted Lemonade drink, and so do we, but we chose a lightened-up ice cream to keep things light on the calorie side. I used Edy’s Slow Churned Vanilla.
  • Frozen Strawberries: Frozen strawberries will make this shake thick, creamy, and full of flavor. Plus, you’ll get the added benefit of increased micronutrients and fiber.

How to Make Strawberry Lemonade Protein Shake

  1. Add all ingredients (lemonade, ice cream, protein powder, frozen strawberries) to a high-speed blender. Blend on high until smooth.
  2. Pour into a glass, top it with some whipped cream if you’d like, and enjoy!

Swaps or Alternatives

While our Strawberry Lemonade Protein Shake is already a healthy swap for the popular Chick-fil-A Frosted Lemonade, there are a few swaps you can make that might better suit your dietary needs and preferences. Here are a few ideas:

  • Lemonade alternative: If you prefer a traditional lemonade to a flavored one, you can use regular lemonade in place of strawberry lemonade.
  • Ice cream alternative: If you’re vegan, you can opt for non-dairy ice cream in place of the dairy option.
  • Protein powder alternative: If you’re vegan, you can use a plant-based protein powder. 
  • Frozen strawberries: if you wish to keep this as a regular lemonade, you can swap the frozen strawberries for ice cubes or any other frozen fruit you prefer or have on hand. 

Quick Tip(s)

The consistency of your shake will depend on how many strawberries you add. Add fewer if you like a thinner consistency and add more if you like a thicker consistency.
