My kids have been taking Hiya Vitamins since 2019 (going on 6 years!!) so when they recently launched their Kids Daily Greens + Superfoods powder, I decided to give it a try.

Do I think my kids need a daily greens powder? I don’t know, not necessarily. Am I fine with them taking it? Yes, I think there’s probably a lot missing from their diets in the way of greens.

But since we’ve been loyal Hiya fans for so many years, I always like to give their newest launches a try to see how my kids respond. Admittedly, I was very skeptical about a greens powder that tastes like chocolate – it sounded terrible to me, so I wasn’t sure how my kiddos would react.

Our Hiya Story

Before I get into our experience with Hiya Kids Daily Greens, let me first tell you a bit about our background with Hiya. As I mentioned, we’ve been using Hiya consistently for almost 6 years. I first discovered Hiya back in late 2019 when my daughter was about to turn 2. I was looking for a daily multivitamin that I could give both of my kiddos (my son was 4 at the time). Most kids vitamins were approved for ages 4+, but I didn’t want to get two separate vitamins each month.

Hiya popped up on my feed and I noticed that it was approved for ages 2+ which was exactly what I was looking for. I also noticed that Hiya was sold directly from the company not a third party like Amazon, which wasn’t really common back then. Previously, I had gotten all of my kids’ vitamins from Amazon, CVS, etc.

Long story short, I went ahead and ordered our first bottle of vitamins because they had a promo for 50% off your first month (which they still have available, by the way). It was a subscription, so I knew that if we didn’t like the vitamins I’d need to cancel before my next order billed and shipped.

My kids both loved Hiya immediately and we haven’t looked back since. Hiya has launched a few other kids supplements after the initial vitamins, but thus far the only other one that we’ve consistently added to our daily routine with our vitamins is the Kids Daily Probiotics, which we also love.

Trying the Greens Powder

So now that you know we’ve been fans of Hiya for years, it probably makes sense why I’d want to try all their products, including a greens powder even though I notoriously don’t like greens powders. Honestly, I was wondering how the heck they were able to create a greens powder that kids would actually drink and enjoy when I myself can barely choke them down.

We placed our order and it came quickly, with its decoratable jar (very on-brand for Hiya and one of my kids’ favorite features). The actual powder comes in a sealed bag that you’re meant to dump into your canister. You only get the canister with your first order, after that, you’ll get the refill pouches every month.

Per the directions, we were to add one scoop (scoop is included!) to a glass of milk or a milk alternative, mix it up, and then drink it down. The flavor is chocolate but they don’t add any sugar (again, I was suspect).

Our first attempt at mixing the powder into a glass of milk was a little rough using just a spoon. I grabbed my handheld frother that I use to put my collagen in my coffee and used that and the powder dissolved right into the milk pretty well.

Taste Taste

This is probably the part that you’re most interested in; does it actually taste good? Will my kid(s) drink it??

Yes, Hiya Kids Daily Greens tastes like chocolate milk, legitimately. Not the best chocolate milk in the world, mind you, but still, it’s indisputably chocolate milk. I took a skeptical sip before my kids did and was very surprised when I didn’t detect the slightest “greens” flavor (if you’ve ever had a greens powder before, you know what I mean).

Next up, I served it to my eager kids. They didn’t care that it was a healthy, veggie, and nutrient-packed drink, they were just excited about the prospect of chocolate milk. I am happy to report that both of my kids drank it all. They said they liked it, and based on the fact that they drank it all, I believed them.

Do I think they’d be choosing Hiya greens over our favorite Fairlife Chocolate milk? Of course not. But will they drink it if I give it to them? Yes!

Will We Keep Our Subscription?

No, we’re not going to keep a monthly subscription for the Kids Daily Greens. Even though we really like the product, it’s just one more thing that I’ll have to pay for monthly, and we’re already paying for monthly vitamins and probiotics for both kids. It’s also one more thing that I would have to remember to mix up for my kids every day and I already know I’d be missing doses constantly.

At this time, I don’t feel that the ends justify the means, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t think it’s a great product for those who have the budget for it! Hiya is truly one of my favorite supplement brands and the only one I have trusted to use consistently for almost 6 years.

Hiya’s products are really good and I am very thankful for them. People always ask “do they work???” To be honest, I’m not sure how I would be able to definitively answer that question. Work for what? Making kids healthier? I don’t know, maybe. I mean, I hope so!

I think what Hiya offers more than any other specific benefit is peace of mind for parents who want to do their best for their kiddos. We obviously want to keep our kids healthy and well, but if your kids are anything like my kids, they don’t always eat the healthy, nourishing meals we prepare for them which can be really frustrating and disheartening. Hiya gives us that little bit of backup we need to have confidence that our kids are getting what they need.

Will You Try Hiya Greens?

Planning to give Hiya Greens a try for your family? I say go for it! It tastes great and kids seem to really like it. If you do try it, be sure to come back and let me know what your kids think of it and if it’s something you’ll add to your kid’s regular routine.
