Equipment

  • 1 Large Saucepan
  • 1 Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 9x13-inch baking dish (greased or lined with parchment)
  • 1 Wax paper or spatula (for pressing the mixture evenly)
  • 1 Small piping bag or zip-top bag (for melted chocolate/icing, optional)

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 4 cups Mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 cup Crushed Oreos (~6 cookies)
  • 1/2 cup Vanilla protein powder
  • For decoration: candy eyes, melted chocolate or black icing for decorating the mouths

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
  • Remove from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla protein powder until well combined.
  • Add the Rice Krispies and crushed Oreos to the marshmallow mixture. Stir until the cereal and Oreos are evenly coated.
  • Press the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch pan, using a spatula or wax paper to flatten it evenly.
  • While the Rice Krispies are still slightly warm, press the candy eyes into the surface to create spooky faces.
  • Use the melted chocolate or black icing to draw little mouths on each treat to complete the faces.
  • Allow to cool for about 30 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

For an extra spooky twist, use Halloween-themed Rice Krispies or add orange and black sprinkles before the mixture sets.
To make them even more festive, you can dye the marshmallow mixture with a bit of green or purple food coloring.
You can also substitute the vanilla protein powder with another flavor, such as chocolate or cookies and cream, to mix up the taste.
